From Nick re wedding 6th September

Dear All,

Here is the list of music for the wedding on Saturday 6th September.

Introit ( 15 minutes or so before the Brides entry)

Order to be confirmed by Ed

 Ave Maris Stella - Grieg

If ye Love me     - Tallis

The Lord is my Shepherd - Goodall

Ubi Caritas - Gjeilo

My Spirit Sang - Finzi

Processional - Brides Entry

Vivaldi - Gloria in Excelsis Deo

Register Signing

Beati quorum via - Stanford

Locus Iste - Bruckner

Most of you now have a copy of Ubi Caritas. If you did not get a copy the other night I will have them with me tomorrow and on Monday. I still have some CDs for those that have not received one.

On Monday we will also have copies the Gloria, If ye love me and the other pieces that the Chamber choir have sung before but you may handed your copies in e.g. Locus Iste and Finzi. We are still working on sourcing The Goodall..if you have your own copy perhaps you could let us know.

I think Ed is going to try and run through the repertoire before the end of term and also try and arrange a rehearsal in late August or very early September.

Thank you all very much for agreeing to take part in this special day. I am going to give Ed some money to buy everyone a drink afterwards and we will also make a contribution to choir funds as a thank you

Kind regards

Nick

PLEASE NOTE: rehearsals to the end of term are all happening

You will recall that we squeezed in 2 extra rehearsals mid week to get in as much prep as possible before our concert on the 6th July, and that the intention was that these would be instead of the last 2 rehearsals in the term.

However there is a CHANGE OF PLAN and all rehearsals are now going to go ahead, so after our concert there will be rehearsals on:
7th July
14th July
21st July
during which we will look at music for Bruges and for the wedding in September, among other things.

from Teresa re the Mick Danby Mix concert

Plans for the concert on 5 July, which I have called The Mick Danby Mix, are coming together.

I would absolutely love members of the chamber choir to come along.... and I have a teensy request to make... I would love people to get their tickets in advance rather than on the night... all they need to do is donate online and I can post their tix or they can collect on the night. Once I have an idea of numbers I can decide whether to have cabaret-style or theatre-style seating. If you could pass on that info I would be very grateful.... if they email me at mickdanbymix@gmail.com I will sort something out.

Also tell them --- two great raffle prizes (so far.... any ideas welcome!) . Tickets to a concert at the Sage, and tickets to any event at Hoochie Coochie lounge bar in Newcastle.... where recent guests have been Gregory Porter and Chaka Khan! (well I like them anyway).

Thanks

Teresa

Tonight's rehearsal

Tonight's rehearsal will be in the Barbour Room.
You will need the Bach and the Durufle.

From Ed, written yesterday

Dear Chamber Choir,

Thanks for a great rehearsal last night. We're now on the run to our 6 July concert and as we now there's lots of challenges! We have a month to go and paternity could happen at any time. Len Young has agreed to lead the 2 extra rehearsals (tomorrow evening and 26 June, both 19:00-21:00) and is on standby to step in whenever I have to to step out. The earlier we have the baby the better obviously but sadly there's no guessing when that will be!

The music we are singing is challenging. Durufle's Requiem is not a walk in the park in any way and we really must sing the Bach after all the work we have done. I will send a concert programme this week so that you can see what else there is too! However, I would never set us up to fail. I always plan so that there is an exciting challenge but is really attainable. That way pride and satisfaction follows for you!

The only way the next month can be really successful for us is for the whole choir to really help. Please listen and study your Durufle and Bach in particular. Please prioritise all the rehearsals and please help each other out. As individuals we are all the choir. The community can only work with everybody doing their bit, so please do!

Thanks again for being the proactive, extraordinary, supportive community that you ever are and I look forward to a really exciting and energetic month!

Ed
