Train travel to Cambridge

A note re travel to Cambridge from Simon (written earlier this week)

Dear All
Just checking today (tuesday) on East Coast website. Tickets not yet available for our weekend. Looks like at least another week until the Friday  tickets are released and then the Sunday component a week later.
However, I did check the comparative cost of a direct return to Cambridge from Durham compared with splitting the ticket Durham-Peterborough/Peterborough-Cambridge and paying separately for each leg. Maybe teaching Granny etc but for me with a Railcard there was £35 difference to the good for the split journey so £50 for those without. Also if you could get together for the journey for those without cards you can get the Group discount rate for 3 or more people at the same level.
Worth thinking about for those planning to go by train
