From Alison who sang with us in Dublin

A message below from Alison who sang with us in Dublin.  She has also emailed some photos which I will put on the photo page.....talking of which, where are all your photo's Dubliners?  get uploading.....

Hello everyone

A big thanks again for welcoming me into the choir fold, though sorry that my coughing fit in the last concert might have spoilt David's video... My friends loved the concert. One of them is on the board of the Irish Chamber Choir (professional) and confessed she'd enjoyed us more than she usually enjoyed theirs!! And she's going to suggest St Audoen's as a venue to them!

Have a good term singing. I'll come to your December concert if I can. Am sure Jean W will tell you about Ryton Choral's - would be great to see some of you come and support her (and me!) at one of next year's concerts.

Alison

PS I almost forgot - please pass on to the choir at large news of another unusual singing opportunity, in London, with Bob Chilcott and the Kings Singers. See this link.

Post Dublin......

Well thank you everyone for another amazing tour. This one seemed to have been sponsored by Guinness and I do remember some singing..... maybe it was the Guinness but I don’t think a touring chamber choir has sung better across all the parts. We took music on this trip  that we wouldn't have dared to have dreamed about back in Prague 6 years ago. All of the venues were fun, but it was the unusual ones which really seemed to stick out for me including (and especially) St Audoen’s (we were on fire and that acoustic was rich) and, maybe it was just me, but the Lady Chapel in St Patrick’s. I could have sung there all day. Thanks to everyone and now, how do we top that? (see below....)

New music:

Please let Ed know if you have any suggestions for new music for the coming terms

New ventures:
  • what sort of tour / trip would people like to do next year? would you be interested if the tour was on home soil next year? or is going abroad a must? what time of year would people like to travel? are there any locations you would really like to visit to sing? (remember we need to be able to get there and back in a weekend at at a reasonable cost!)
  • Are there any other sort of singing ventures that you would like to do instead of the sort of trip that we have done for the past few years?  e.g. choral festival etc
New money:

Thanks to our successes at St George's Church in July, we are in the pleasurable situation of having £250.00 that we need to spend by March 2013. Please let Ed or the CC Champions know (you can do so by replying to this email) of any suggestions or preferences you have for how the money is spent.  e.g. on music that we might otherwise not be able to afford? on a weekend day choral workshop of some sort? on supplementing the tour next year? paying for musicians or soloists to work with us?  These are just a few suggestions to get the ball rolling - please do make suggestions of your own.  Soon after the new term starts we will hopefully then have a shortlist of possibles which we can put to the vote.
