Update from Simon re acommodation and meal in London

Dear All

Just a quick update on arrangements before I go away for a three weeks. I have had a couple of requests to change the room arrangements at Imperial as people’s intentions have changed. I can make other changes at the moment but will need to call a halt by the end of next month, 30th June. Imperial College will need the names of all parties before we go. I know the majority of spouses/partners from last time but if you think I won’t know as newcomers to the trip could you please email me.(simon.priestley@btinternet.com)

I shall be circulating the menu for Brown’s at the beginning of July. Usual arrangements: money for meal to me, drinks paid direct to venue. I shall be sending a spreadsheet setting out requests to them at the beginning of August.

I have been asked if other guests could come to the meal. There is space at the moment as the room will take up to 48. Could you let me know if you have friends who want to come.

Simon

Choir summer trip to London

I have been asked by a few people to let you know more about timings of our singing on 22 and 23 August.  So here is a summary of what we have organised so far:

Saturday 22nd August:
Southwark Cathedral
  • meet at 9.45
  • rehearse for an hour
  • concert 11.00-12.00
St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey
  • meet 13.45
  • concert 14.00-15.00
Sunday 23rd August
St Bartholomew the Great, Smithfield
  • meet at 12.00
  • rehearse for half an hour
  • concert 13.00-13.50
St Clement Danes, The Strand
  • meet at 14.30
  • concert 14.40-15.30

There are a couple more opportunities where we may be able to do an informal sing  but I am yet to finalise that and they may not happen at all.  If they do happen I will endeavour to avoid adding anything after the St Clement Danes concert so that travel arrangements back to Newcastle that evening should not be affected.

Also, just to give you the heads up, as on past weekends a couple of the venues are charging us to sing so we will be asking for contributions from singers.  However we have negotiated reduced fees and the total is likely to be less than £140 between a choir of what is likely to be 30-35 singers (our biggest touring choir yet!).  As usual we will also be asking singers to contribute to Ed's costs.

I will provide more detailed information about the timings and the venues nearer the time.

Thanks

Nicky
